Just got to work, I was reading 2 Chronicles Yesterday. It was so wonderful. I thought I would see how God changed a whole nation, because I think that would be cool to do someday.
Solomon rocks, he was humble and asked the Lord to give him knowledge and wisdom. God gave him that and much more wealth, riches, and honor.
First, He said something that caught me. He addressed leaders of nations, smaller nations, state type things, and leaders of families in the same sentence. I like that.
I forget what he said now, but that caught me off guard. I have been reading so much political philosophy for my class this summer. Thomas Hobbes is a guy that thought patriarchael families and leaders of bigger peoples are really different, Or that might have been John Locke...o man!
That guy thought that the family is different from large nations in principle. I am not sure that is true.
We are messed up sometimes:)
Ok- but I learned more too about how Solomon ruled. He first inquired from other Kings for goods. He used the best resources to build God's temple and his mansion. Then, he hired all the illegal immigrants to work and be foreman and laborers. How great is that? We exclude so many immigrants here (Chinese Exclusionary Act), but maybe we should try doing stuff like that again. i think that Solomon had a heart and used great wisdom in utilizing people who maybe did not get the best jobs, to build the place to meet God. How awesome!
Then, he also hired tons of artisans to engrave cherubs on gold- one that was the length of the entire building, how cool is that?
And other really cool artisan stuff.
Anyways, back to work. 2 Chronicles is pretty cool. Jesus has some pretty dang good wisdom too:) He gave it to us, James tells us to ask for it.
